Health Unit Coordinators act as a liaison between medical staff and patients, which requires a well-rounded skill setthat includes technical knowledge and interpersonal skills. As such, in this program, you’ll learn:
- How to speak and understand the language of medicine
- The foundations of human anatomy and physiology
- How to transcribe doctor's orders and update patient records
- How to work with patient's electronic health record (EHR) to perform audits and process release requests
- How to perform the basic collection of patient demographic and insurance information
Upon completion, you’ll also be eligible to sit for your Certified Health Unit Coordinator (CHUC) exam through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).
